Stop The Excessive Tax!

A crippling new federal tax on safer nicotine products and low-risk alternatives to smoking is being proposed as part of the funding bill for President Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan. This tax would severely limit Americans’ access to safer alternatives and would only punish people who are trying to quit smoking by making all nicotine and smoke-free tobacco products unaffordable.

Below is a table showing the devastating effects of this proposed tax on nicotine (TFN, synthetic, and tobacco-derrived), and how it would affect bottled e-liquids. These figures are just the extra taxes you’ll be paying and don’t include the cost of the e-liquid.

Protect USPS Vape Mail!

https://casaa.org/call-to-action/keep-vape-mail-legal-reject-s-1253/

The PACT Act requires online retailers to collect state/local taxes before shipping orders, register with the federal government, and provide detailed information on a monthly basis to the tax department of each state it ships too – including the names and addresses of each customer.

While this is not an all-out ban on online sales, most small vapor businesses do not have the infrastructure or ability to comply with these rigorous requirements. Penalties for not complying with the PACT Act include up to three years in prison.

For the few who do, it would raise the cost of purchasing vapor products for people who depend on being able to have safer alternatives delivered to their door by requiring signature on delivery.

What happens to online purchases?
Banning USPS from shipping vapor products will force companies to use private carriers like FedEx and UPS. In addition to these carriers being more expensive than USPS, they also do not deliver mail to all Americans. Private carriers routinely outsource deliveries to rural areas or neighborhoods they deem “dangerous” to USPS in order to cut costs. Removing USPS as an option means that some people will have no way of purchasing vapor products. For everyone else, it means they will pay higher prices and they’ll be forced to break social distancing rules because a signature will be required on delivery. Additionally, private carriers could eventually cave to political pressures and also ban the shipment of vapor products.

Can’t we just purchase in stores instead?
Not all consumers of vapor products have access to brick and mortar stores due to their health, disabilities, or even their location. And with PMTA enforcement around the corner, the selection of products deemed legal by the government will be so small that many stores won’t be able to survive.

Meanwhile, cigarettes will remain the most visible and widely accessible tobacco product in the history of the world.

Why are they doing this?
The supporters of this bill argue that preventing the shipment of vapor products will prevent teens from getting their hands on it, and reduce youth usage. What they don’t tell you is that less than 6% of youth report buying vapor products online, according to the CDC’s 2018 National Youth Tobacco Survey. Most young people report getting vapor products and other age-restricted products from friends, family, and informal sources–sources that are about to become much more popular after September.

Sorry OFRF, Wrong Direction…

OFRF LOGOtm black transparent.png

On OFRF’s web page:

…”So will OFRF disappear? Definitely not, OFRF will move into the cannabis and CBD hardware market.

It has always been OFRF’s intention to move into the CBD / THC vaping market. Stated OFRF CEO Chris Hopkins. For the past six months OFRF engineers have been working in collaboration with Wotofo engineers to develop a new coil tech designed specifically for the use in CBD and THC vaping cartridges and we are very excited about this new direction.

Stay tuned for our first CBD pen product launch coming soon.”…

All I have to say is I do love your little eLiquid mesh tank but sorry Chris, wrong direction.

From the CEO…

“As expected, reports of people being hospitalized due to a “mystery lung disease” continue to grow. The non-communicable lung disease that is increasingly being linked to products such as K2/Spice and/or adulterated THC cartridges–sold by underground sellers–is now under investigation in 22 states including CA, CT, FL, IL, IN, IA, MN, MI, NC, NJ, NM, NY, PA, TX, UT, WI, and as of Thursday, Colorado has its first confirmed case.

As of Friday morning, one death in Illinois is being attributed to an unknown substance that people are consuming by way of vaping. CASAA extends our condolences to the family and share in everyone’s disappointment in knowing that this tragic death could have been prevented if more compassionate policies were in place.

In last week’s Heads Up Round Up we briefly highlighted the concern that state and federal drug policy is complicating diagnosis, patient care, and accurate reporting about these clusters of lung disease. But in the wake of these reported illnesses, almost all of the usual anti-tobacco campaigners are using this event to elevate their cries for an all-out ban on nicotine vaping products–especially e-liquids sold in flavors other than tobacco.

Anti-tobacco campaigners are advocating for policies that will do absolutely nothing to prevent events like this in the future. Rather, it is more likely that heavy regulation–even if it isn’t total prohibition–will lead to more instances of people being harmed by fake pot, adulterated THC, or poorly manufactured nicotine products sold on an unregulated, illicit market. According to an article on TechCrunch, the FDA is still uncertain if the products being used even fall under the agency’s regulatory authority.

CASAA is reaffirming our advice to consumers that vapor products (THC and nicotine) should be purchased from reputable sources and not “on the street.” We also note that the terminology used to discuss this issue can benefit from including a clear distinction between nicotine vaping, THC/cannabis vaping, and synthetic cannabinoid vaping (k2/spice). Simply reporting that a mysterious lung disease is generally attributable to “vaping” will have harmful unintended consequences such as sending people back to combustible tobacco or discouraging them from making the switch at all.”

Stay safer,

Your Card Will Be Pulled…

sorry.were.closed.png

In the USA, it’s official, the FDA is now going to be pulling your card (eLiquid) if you did not submit your PMTA’s.

Yep, it’s starting. Start sweating. Four down, thousands to go.

Only the strong and smart will survive and or eLiquid companies with the most money, as the average PMTA filing cost’s about $300K per flavor, per nic level and per size.

Wotofo Designer Coils ? !

wotofo.coils

framed.stapled.clapton.coil

Attention folks, Asia, specifically Wotofo, is making perfect (well almost 🙂 ) designer coils! Someone at Wotofo has listened to someone who knows something about vaping coils.
For the first time, in my vaping history anyway, for less than $1 per coil, I can get really nicely made and very clean designer coils in a packs of 10 each. Yes I know Asia has produced separate coils in various configurations, but they usually are much less complicated or the wrong diameter and of less quantity and quality. Now, we have 3mm (the perfect diameter) N80 coils that I can put in most of my atomizers without much hassle or wishing I could make the ones we see on Instagram, commonly known as coil porn. In my mind, if these were made from stainless steel, they would be perfect. I can’t wait to give them a try and hopefully, I am not allergic to Nickel.
30 coils should last me a long, long time. As I have read, nichrome has a TCR value of 0.000112 or Joyetech format 0011. Ni80 is not intended for use with temp control.

Here are the three variations that I ordered from my friends at Eciggity.com :
